The Nigerian Army plays a pivotal role in the defense and security of the country as rivals and enemies surround our region. The Nigerian Army’s marine or navy branch is one of the most important pillars of the security department. Some experts also claim that the Nigerian Navy maintains top status in the continent because its training is the hardest training in the entire region.
But today’s question is whether these trainees get an allowance from the government of Nigeria and the defense department or not. Some sources stated that their average ratio of allowances is about N9,000 to N12,000, depending upon the job and conditions of the yearly navy budget. Let’s clear the confusion related to the navy’s allowances and the facilities given by the controlling bodies.
Types of Training & Allowances
There are multiple allowances and facilities given to the Nigerian Navy trainees so they can survive, manage their financial problems, and be motivated to work for the department. The department states that the controlling bodies are required to pay a small portion of the money to the soldiers of the country so they do not lose interest in their jobs.
The early training after passing assessments and tests is called Recruit Training, in which the trainee has to survive 8 months. During this time frame, his willpower, physical strength, and mental abilities are examined with the help of tests and training. The trainee who fails or does not score well in the Recruit Training is expelled from the Nigerian Navy, but one who faces all challenges gets N10,500 to N15,000 monthly.
It is more complicated than the above training as the trainee is expected to show his ability to tackle mental challenges and make strategies to lead his juniors. The training duration is more than 6 months, depending upon the Nigerian Navy Exercises. The trainee gets N15,000 to N25,000 monthly if he presents himself according to the requirements of training.
Nigerian Defence Academy Training
It is considered the toughest training for experienced soldiers who want to become future officers in the Nigerian Navy. The purpose of this training is to polish their mental and physical abilities and enable them to tackle all kinds of self-defense challenges. A trainee receives N25,000 to N50,000, according to the National Defence Department.
Money is not the only thing they get; they also receive multiple other facilities. For example, the Nigerian Navy offers them accommodation and high-nutrition food. When it comes to food, the Nigerian Navy provides its trainees with high-quality food with all the important nutrients so they do not face physical or mental barriers during the training.
Additionally, if the trainee is physically unwell or unable to participate in the training because of mental problems, he can get free medical and health care. There are multiple counseling centers available in the army hubs for the soldiers and trainees. Lastly, trainees also enjoy recreational activities such as sports competitions or fighting duels and games.
The Nigerian Navy is at the top of the list because of its next-level training techniques, which enable a soldier to become undefeatable. The training not only makes them strong but also allows them to earn N9,000 to N12,000 monthly. Additionally, the trainees also receive other facilities such as accommodation, free medical and health care, high quality and nutritional food, sports, and free transportation, so we conclude that myths regarding the training have no factual basis and all trainees get sufficient amounts.
